Astronomy: Our Solar System, Galaxy and Humanity: Part 1

Our planet is part of an enormous clockwork Solar System, which in turn is part of a gigantic spiral galactic system having a super massive cluster of condensed stars at the core - called the Galactic Centre.

Our Sun is the heart of our Solar System with our earth revolving round this Sun. If you ever needed something tangible to worship - you could not go far wrong with Sun worship, after all , without this Star where would we be?
The moon also plays an important role and deserves massive praise too. Without it our seasons would be a mess, our daily cycles would be very awkward, our crops bad - nature in dis-harmony , and our sea tides gone.

So you see the huge importance of cycle's.
Our whole existence is governed by cycle's whether you realise that or not; summer to winter, day to night, AM to PM, birth to death, sleeping to awake, seeds to flower, even  female menstrual cycle's (er hmm).

It is no wonder that the ancients took such interest in our heavens.
This is no mean feat as tracking a constellation star seemingly moving at approx 1 degree every 72 years would take someone quite literately a lifetime to observe just a 1 degree shift.
Lets move on now, to the more familiar signs of our Zodiac, Aquarius Pisces and so on.

There are 12 signs to the Zodiac, each 12 are constellations of stars in the sky that resemble an object we are familiar with on earth; a Bull (Taurus), Fish (Pisces), an Archer (Sagittarius).

These star sign's appear to be slowly cycling though our polar nights sky at on average 2000 years per star sign (I will get into this more later on).so: 2000 x 12 = 24000 great year cycle.

It is in fact precession of the earth's axis that causes us to cycle though  these signs.
Precession is the tilt of the earth's axis, a wobble if you will.
Like a gyroscope action, a spinning top, or starting a plate spinning around on the top of a stick, with an angular radius of about 23.5 degrees. Some say that it is that the earth is slightly fatter in the middle equator part of our planet that cause's this wobble / tilt.

On a whole, this precession acts as one of the best and most reliable circular motion clocks ever to be observed by humans beings.

Just think, a 24000 year (or arguably 25920 year) cycle of time tracked via a 12 zodiac star sign clock.
Now thats what I call telling the time!

The ancient Mayan's were also masters of tracking the time and took this concept to a whole new mathematical level (more on the Mayans later).
If we take precession - the earth's wobble at a constant, and ignore any unusual unforeseen external acting forces including torque and velocity.
Then you are looking at "a great year" cycle of 25.920 year cycle.
Broken down maths as follows:
12 = constellations of zodiac.
30 = Degree's along ecliptic to each constellation of zodiac
(12x30 = 360 degrees)
72 = years per 1 degree movement.
(72x30 = 2160 years per zodiac sign)
2160x12 (or 360x72) = 25.920 year great cycle.

Interestingly in the Indian Hindu sacred scriptures of the Puranas,
the 4 ages (called Yugas) are broken down as follows,
Satya Yuga = 4800 yrs, Treta Yuga = 3600 yrs,
Dwapara Yuga = 2400 yrs, and the Kali Yuga = 1200 yrs

Add these 4 values together will give you 12000 years.
So as the Yugas have a descending period of 12000 and a ascending period of 12000 years, 2x 12000 gives you the 24000 "Great Year" cycle - like a clock on a wall descending down to 6 o'clock then ascending up to 12 o'clock (more on this Yuga later).

Indeed you will also find mentioned numbers turn up in the Mayan Long Count Calendar:
1 Tun = 360 days. 1 Katun = 7200 days,
2 Tun's = 720 days, 5 Baktun's = 720.000 days.
6 Tun's = 2160 days., 5 Katurn's 36.000 days.
15 Katurns = 2.160.000 days.

These base numbers you will find - turn up again and again throughout history.

In the Hebrew Kabbalah there are 72 angels (72 names of God) that can be invoked in the Sephiroth's divine power.
Some say the 216 letter name of god is really a 72-part name,
found using an algorithm, you could find the 72 Triads of letters embedded in the Exodus book.
Also note; that the 216 number here also shows up in the Mayan callender.

Interesting to notice is the word Triad used, seeing as the Chinese secret societies known as the Triads - traditionally use payments of 360, 720, and so on.

In Java Indonesia, Borobudur is a ninth-century huge Buddhist Temple, and the top platform that has 72 Buddha statues seated inside perforated bell like Stupa's

This is just a small example of the kind of numerology that shows up from ancient times.

If you want further evidence than the ancients were far more advanced than we can possible imagine, lets delve deeper into numerology. Take Pi for instance, a somewhat magical and transcendental number.
Pi has a value of slightly over 3.14, it is a ratio of the diameter of a circle to its circumference,  meaning that if a circle's diameter is 12 inches, then the circumference will be 12 x 3.14 = 37.68 inches.

The Egyptians clearly understood Pi even though its full understanding was credited to the Greek Archimedes in the 3rd century.

Lets look at the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt:

The ratio of the original height (481.3949 ft) and the perimeter (3023.16 ft) equates to the sum of 2 Pi.
481.3949 x2 xPi (3.14) = 3023.16
Interestingly enough we can also take the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan Mexico and the ratio of the height (233.5 ft), its sum of 4 Pi equates to within less than half an inch of the the actual perimeter (2932.8 ft)
Wow - stick that in the western linear view of technical evolution pipe and smoke it!

So given that the Egyptians used Pi somewhat 2500 years+ before the Greeks (personally I believe much older than that),
you see the Egyptians had access to knowledge that to this day cant be explained by our western society at all.

To close on this Part 1 section, the Egyptians were of course keen observers of the stars to say the very least.
Their Zodiac (shown above) is found in the Ancient Hathor Temple at Dendera.

There are many questions to be answered to how these ancient cultures acquired such knowledge, and over what period of time.

And to what importance do these astral bodies have on us?

One things for sure - our solar system and precession of our stars has always been an observed fact.

That's all for now folks - stay re-tuned
